Wakefield Fire Rescue has career firefighter/EMTs staffing the firehouse providing fire and EMS coverage, conducting fire inspections and fire prevention training 7 Days a Week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Wakefield Fire Rescue operates as a call/paid Department. Personnel includes approximately 25 call firefighters 15 EMS call volunteers and 7 full-time Firefighter/ EMT's. The department covers just over 1,000 calls combined each year, providing fire suppression and emergency medical services to the Town of Wakefield, consisting of Sanbornville,Union, East Wakefield and also the Town of Brookfield. The Department is led by Chief Todd Nason and Deputy Chief Rhodes Haskell. Patricia Brackett assists as the Fire Department Administrator. The EMS Division is led by Captain Jane Runnels. 
Wakefield Fire Rescue is also an active member of the Ossipee Valley Mutual Aid Association. 

2019 Calls for the year:
As of August 31, 2019 758 Calls for service have been handled; 501 EMS and 257 Fire calls. This is 78 calls more then August 31st 2018.

2018 Calls for the year:
734 EMS, 329 FIRE, 1,063 Total
2017 Calls for the year:
704 EMS, 421 FIRE, 1125 Total
2016 Calls for the year: 
612 EMS, 330 FIRE, 942 Total
2015 Calls for the year:
608 EMS, 357 FIRE, 965 Total
2014 Calls for the year:
614 EMS, 295 FIRE, 909 Total
2013 Calls for the year:
631 EMS, 323 FIRE, 954 Total
2012 Calls for the year:
591 EMS, 319 FIRE, 910 Total
